Yesterday a selected few were invited to meet Tim Wainwright, EHRC’s Director of English Regions for an informal introductory meeting

The afternoon was spent discussing how the EHRC can work in a more effective way in helping the LGBT community, among other groups  

Gay Surrey have been added as a charity that will become a key player in helping on the consultation and implementation of their work

In addition, they have also stated there is some money coming and aim to provide Gay Surrey with some of this. The funding will not be for a given project but to simply help the charity grow and continue its work  

For those of you that don’t know the EHRC now have offices in Guildford, which is very handy for us as a charity

ONE of Scotland’s most senior Catholics has launched an attack on the “gay lobby” in Scotland, claiming there is a “huge and well-orchestrated conspiracy” against Christian values

It’s these kinds of comments that only fuel the fire and further drive a wedge between true inclusion

We are in a modern society that should not allow people including this Bishop to use terms like “tolerate” in any context we are all human beings and should share human rights

Allowing the church what seems a privileged voice in politics and governance has only continued to harm society as its stands today. There are no conspiracy theories other than the church wishing all mankind to compile with their rules on their terms.

Is it so wrong to ask for social inclusion, true acceptance from all in society and  not merely “tolerance”

This is the age where we must demand the separation of church from state before we find ourselves slipping back into medieval times.

The Bishop is absolutely entitled to his opinion but public proclamations attempting to rally support for a war that is unfounded and only evolving and unfolding in his own head. We can only hope the Criminal Justice Bill is passed as soon as possible to make this and other people think twice before using such inflammatory public statements.
